About Mýrdalur

Mýrdalur is the name of the beautiful region that surrounds our guesthouse. Everywhere you look, you’ll find stunning scenery: black sand beaches, white glaciers, impressive mountains, ocean cliffs, friendly animals, and untouched Icelandic nature.

Nearby attractions include Reynisfjara, Víkurfjara, Dyrhólaey, Mýrdalsjökull with the outlet glacier Sólheimajökull, and the volcano Katla lying beneath the ice. You can also explore Þakgil, Remundargil, Hjörleifshöfði (Yoda Cave), Mýrdalssandur, Pétursey, and of course our charming town Vík.

Scattered throughout the area are small, picturesque churches — each a symbol of the community’s history, cooperation, and strong local spirit.
